Herring, Demetria "Tiny", age 75 of Knoxville, daughter of the late Joseph and Anne Wenzler, passed away peacefully at her home on Friday, August 25, 2017 surrounded by her family. She was a longtime member of First Baptist Concord. Following her retirement at the University of Tennessee, she worked at Wal-Mart for several years.
She was preceded in death by husband, Melvin "Mel" G. Herring in 2010. Tiny is survived by her beloved family; son, Joseph Scott Herring and wife, Amy Ruddick of Pensacola, Florida and daughter and son-in-law, Angela "Angie" and Rob Grabeel of Lenoir City, Tennessee; grandchildren, Katie Herring, Foster Grabeel and Mady Grabeel; sister, Jo Anne Wier of Clinton, TN; nieces, Dee Wier, Lisa Vowell and husband Steve, and their children, Mitchell, Wesley, Heidi and Cliff; aunt and uncle, Louise and Bob Hugo; cousins, Robbie, Shirley, Richard, and Barbara.
The family will receive friends from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM Tuesday (2017.08.29) at First Baptist Concord with funeral service to follow at 7:00 PM. Dr. Doug Sager, Reverend Jeff Lawrence and Reverend Steve Peek will officiate. Family and friends will meet 11:15 AM Wednesday at East Tennessee State Veterans' Cemetery (Lyons View Pike) for a 11:30 AM graveside service.
