Charles M. Laycock, III of Auburndale, Fla., passed away on Wednesday, June 10, 2015, at the Winter Haven Hospital.
Born Sept. 25, 1941, to James and Mary Chappell Laycock in Straight Creek, Ky., he was raised in Oak Ridge, Tenn. Charles was a graduate of the University of Tennessee and the Memphis State University Law School. He was an attorney for 45 years and worked for the Army Corps of Engineers and Ellis Environmental in Gainesville, Fla., before moving to Auburndale, Fla., five years ago. He then joined the Brooks Law Group in Winter Haven, where he practiced law with his son, Charles “CJ” Laycock, Jr. Charles attended the Unitarian Universalist Congregation in Lakeland, Fla.
Charles is survived by his wife of 50 years, Agnes Laycock, RN; two sons, Charles Laycock, Jr. of Winter Haven and Steve Laycock and his wife Maria of Pompano Beach, Fla.; a grandson, Charles Laycock; a brother, Donald Laycock of California; and two sisters, Ann Chappell and Jane Barisone both of California.
The family will receive friends from 10 until 11 a.m., Saturday, June 13, 2015, at Oak Ridge Funeral Care in Winter Haven. A Celebration of life will begin at 11 a.m. in the Funeral Home Chapel. Condolences may be sent at www.oakridgefuneralcare.com.
